Possible Relationships
My Opinion
Presea & Clef: I respect Presea a whole lot. Though it was not clear that she may be a potential partner at first, there are hints later on that she likes Clef. For example, in the first volume of the manga when the Magic Knights told her what had happened to Clef (after they let him when Alcione appeared), she worries for his safety. Besides that, in the second season of the anime, Sierra admits she feels for him, just like Presea did.
I find that Presea loves him, despite his appearance, and respects him as well. My guess is that she probably does not want to confess because she does not wish to bring any humiliation to him (I'm not sure). As Clef was greatly affected by Emeraude-hime falling in love with Zagato, thus greatly saddened. Presea most probably observed all of this quietly and did not want to add on to Clef's burden.
Others & Clef: The other couple I saw was Hikaru/Clef. The reason should be obvious enough: they are both short. I don't strongly/violently object to this couple, but I do feel that it is not one of love and affection, more of father-daughter in fact. Besides that I haven't seen anything other couples.
Ascot Summons & Ryuuzaki Umi: The first person you'd probably pair Umi up with is Ascot. Why? It's obvious enough that Ascot likes Umi, and they did have their moments. One was when the three Magic Knights arrvied at the shrine at the bottom of the sea (volume three). Umi fought with Ascot, and managed to make him repent. Another two memorable scenes was in the second series: when Ascot grew up for Umi and at the last part, when Ascot asked whom Umi had in mind as a boyfriend. Umi, being kinda slow with guys, just told the truth: 'no'. And dear Ascot was delighted.
To tell you the truth, I supported this couple at first, but I changed my mind soon enough. Well, I guess his is sincere in what he does for Umi (eg. growing up for Umi - really sweet) but I don't feel as much for him as I do for Clef. The only thing left is how Umi feels but CLAMP left that undecided so it is up to us to interpret.
Eagle Vision & Ryuuzaki Umi: When Eagle first entered the scene, it was clear that he was going to be with Hikaru...or not. A pity for him, most people supported Hikaru/Lantis, probably because they had more moments together. (Okay, some people may say threesome! But I think not.)
And so, when he is lonely, and another Magic Knight is lonely, what do people do? They pair them up together. No, I don't have anything against this couple, I admit they are sweet together. But I feel that this two had the least moments together of all the Umi/? couples, since Eagle was mainly with Hikaru in the series.
But I guess there's always a possibility. After all, Eagle is a really sweet guy (and maybe he'll eat anything sweet Umi doesn't want, lol). He is one of my favourite characters in this series.
Others & Ryuuzaki Umi: The other couple I saw was Umi/Ferio. I'm sure Fuu/Ferio fans would be most offended by this. For me, well, I don't see the chemistry anywhere. Ferio does go better with Fuu, not Umi. One hilarious couple I saw was Umi/Mokona. Of course, this one was for the fun of it, that's all.

Cassi: "I would also like to point out that I think Emeraud and Clef seem to have something. At least in the manga Clef sorta looked at Emeraud as more then the Pillar, but I do not really support this pairing. Umi and Clef all the way!!! :)"
My reponse: Interesting perspective! I don't have much to write about since Emeraude was stuck with Zagato 100% and we never saw her interact with Clef in person. But as you said, looking at Clef's concern, nothing's impossible. :)
Cecy: "I have nothing against Eagle/Umi, in fact I think it's just adorable. They look good together but there's a problem, Eagle positively loves sweets and Umi hates anything sweet. Opposites attract or perhaps a little too different to love? Just a thought."
