I personally believe that their relationship is that of romance. If I were to choose a OTP (for real, not multiple ones ;D) it'll be them. As for just friendship, let's just say we'd probably never see a more amusing one.

'Because I Want To See Your Smile' (Kimi ga Egao ga Mitai Kara) is a Clef song. From the lyrics, I believe that he is referring to Umi, hence the name. You can view the lyrics here.
